BLENDED SEAMLESSLY WITH YOUR SMILE

Porcelain Veneers in Kemptville & Kanata

Do you have stains, chip, cracks, or gaps that are ruining the look of your smile? If so, we have the perfect solution for you. Veneers are cosmetic dental restorations that can instantly restore and improve the look of your smile.

Porcelain Veneers are thin shells made of a medical-grade ceramic material that are bonded to the front of the teeth. They can be efficiently designed to match to the exact colour of your teeth to seamlessly blend in with your smile. Porcelain veneers can also be used to improve the shape, size, and appearance of your teeth to create a perfectly formed, white smile.

PROACTIVE CHANGES FOR YOUR SMILE

How Porcelain Veneers
Function & Help

Veneers work by sliding over your teeth’s front surface to fix minor imperfections and give you the dream smile you’ve always wanted. Typically, the application takes three visits to complete. The first visit is required to design your new smile. The second is to prepare the teeth by creating an impression which will be sent to the lab.

Once the shells are ready, a final appointment is required to bond the veneers to your teeth. In some circumstances, your teeth may have to be slightly shaved down. This is done to create natural-looking results and more stability.

STRONG AND DURABLE FOR
LASTING SUPPORT

How Long Will Veneers
Last & How to Care for Them

Once your dentist has completed the procedure, your new veneers will be fixed in place permanently. Only your dentist will be able to remove them if need be. On average, they will last between 15 to 20 years. With good care, they can last even longer.

Though they are exceptionally strong and can withstand everyday wear and tear, porcelain veneers are not indestructible. They can also chip and crack just like regular teeth. That’s why it’s imperative to take care of them, especially when biting down on harder materials. For those who tend to grind their teeth during the day or at night, this can cause them to crack. If you suffer from teeth grinding or bruxism, talk to your dentist beforehand to discuss treatment options, like using a mouthguard to protect your new smile.

BRINGING LIFE BACK TO YOUR SMILE

Are Veneers Suitable for All?

Veneers are an excellent choice for rectifying many different dental issues. However, it doesn’t mean that they’re a suitable option for everyone. When you visit our clinic, our dentist will first examine the condition of your teeth and gums thoroughly to ensure that you are a good candidate for this cosmetic treatment. If there are any signs of severe tooth decay or oral infection, you may not qualify for porcelain veneers. In this case, your dentist will recommend another cosmetic service that can offer a more suitable solution based on your individual needs.

The versatile nature of veneers makes them suitable for improving your entire smile or only a portion of it. In fact, veneers can be used to enhance or correct the appearance of one or two teeth. So, if you’re concerned about a particular tooth or all of them, it can be a viable option to explore with your dentist.

STAINS, CHIPS, CRACKS OR GAPS?

Veneers Improve Tooth Shape, Size & Appearance

Porcelain veneers may be more durable against stains compared to resin veneers, but it’s imperative to take good care of them by keeping up with your regular dental hygiene. Brushing twice per day, flossing and wearing a nightguard if recommended by your dentist is important to continue. Neglecting this can eventually lead to discoloured teeth and possible damage.

It can take up to two weeks to prepare the final veneers. For those who need an immediate solution to hide a crack, chipped or damaged tooth, you can also opt for temporary veneers. These can be applied to conceal any damage until the final version is ready. Talk to your dentist to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

We get a lot of questions, naturally, about the wide range of dental services we perform here at our Kanata & Kemptville dental clinics. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions. Don't see yours answered here? Feel free to reach out to Yazdani Family Dentistry.

Getting porcelain veneers is a mult-step process. First of all, you will have an appointment with one of our dentists. You will outline your goals and concerns with the process. The dentist will address your needs and take x-rays or impressions of your teeth if needed.

The second step is to prepare the tooth for the veneer by removing a small amount of the tooth structure then making an impression. The dentist will place temporary veneers for use until the final veneers are made.

The final appointment will be when the temporary veneers are removed and the final veneers are bonded to your teeth.

Veneers preserve the more of tooth structure when compared to crowns. Gum tissues also respond well to porcelain veneers. The colour can be customized to match your teeth and porcelain veneers are also incredibly stain resistant.

Typically, porcelain veneers can last between 5 and 10 years. If they are properly cared for with regular brushing, flossing and dental cleanings, they can possibly last much longer.

The porcelain material in veneers don’t decay the same way that natural enamel does. It is still possible to get a cavity in the underlying tooth structure as veneers age and they aren’t properly cared for with regular brushing and flossing. It is possible for food particles and bacteria to find their way underneath veneers and attack the natural tooth.

The procedure to apply porcelain veneers is minimally-invasive and most patients report no pain or discomfort during treatment. If you have porcelain veneers applied to your teeth and you feel any sort of pain after the treatment, then it is important that you contact us for a follow up appointment to assess and treat any issues.
