Straighten Your Teeth with Invisalign!
This alternative to traditional bracket-and-wire braces can be an excellent way to get the even teeth you’ve always wanted. Invisalign treatments use custom-made, fitted acrylic aligner trays that are clear and virtually invisible. You simply wear each tray for a certain period before switching to the next one. This process is designed to slowly shift your teeth over 12 to 18 months to reach your ideal smile.
Am I Suitable for Invisalign?
While many patients are ideal for this treatment, this option may not be suitable for more severe issues, like extreme overbite and tooth rotation, significant gaps, and intrusion and extrusion that require raising or lowering your teeth. Additionally, Invisalign may not work for you if you need dental surgery or have implants, bridges, or TMJ issues.
Some circumstances that would make you a good candidate for this corrective option include the following:
- Mild overbite or underbite
- Crossbite
- Open bite
- Gapped teeth
- Crowded teeth
The Process
When you visit our Kemptville or Kanata clinic, we will have a consultation to determine if Invisalign is right for you. This decision can depend on the complexity of issues and your history with prior dental work.
If we decide that this option suits you, our team will take detailed records using scans, X-rays, and photographs of your face, teeth, and jaw. Then, we use 3D computer imaging technology to create a treatment plan based on these records and your needs. We map out every stage of repositioning, from your initial teeth to your final smile.
Once these visuals are complete, we will send them out for tray manufacturing. Your entire set typically arrives at our clinic after a few weeks, where you will begin your journey with your first aligner.
You will need to wear each tray for one to two weeks before switching to the next one in your set. Depending on the complexity of your case, you may go through 20 to 50 aligners over 12 to 18 months. For repositioning to stay on course, you must wear your aligners for at least 22 hours daily.
We may also recommend that you visit us after a few months so we can ensure your treatment is going as planned — we are here to help your smile every step of the way!
Invisalign Benefits
There are various reasons many people choose Invisalign, which include the following:
- The trays are undetectable and essentially invisible when you wear them.
- You can take them out when you eat or drink, meaning you’ll have no diet restrictions.
- You don’t need to worry about braces bands or frequent adjustments.
- The ability to remove each aligner means that you can maintain good dental hygiene practices without changing your routine.
- Invisalign tends to be a more affordable cosmetic dentistry option.
